Fernando moya

Head coach

Fernando Moya is a seminal figure in Latin American martial arts with over 22 years of elite-level experience. As the first native Costa Rican to be awarded a Black Belt in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, Moya’s technical lineage is among the most prestigious in the world. He was promoted to both Brown and Black Belt by the renowned John Danaher at the Renzo Gracie Academy in New York City—a distinction held by a very select group of practitioners globally.

Engineering the Future of Combat

Fernando joined Vector after serving as the Grappling Coordinator at the UFC Performance Institute (PI) in Mexico City, where he engineered technical training protocols for the world’s top professional mixed martial artists. At Vector, he applies this same high-performance framework to the Vector Method (VM), a proprietary system built on four pillars: Strength, Skill, Mobility, and Recovery.

Fernando isn't just a practitioner; he is a "teacher of teachers." Having established 20 affiliates across Costa Rica, Mexico, and Panama, his focus has always been on professionalizing the sport and developing high-level instructors. Vector serves as the official Headquarters for this international network, and it is the only facility where members can train directly under Fernando’s daily leadership and instruction.
